Three Travel Agency Licences Revoked – Claims Invited from the Travel Guarantee Fund

Three Travel Agency Licences Revoked – Claims Invited from the Travel Guarantee Fund

The Icelandic Tourist Board has revoked the following travel agency licences with effect from 20 July 2026:

  • CashCo ehf. (ID No. 670418-0810)
  • 90°N ehf. (ID No. 490315-0710)
  • YA YA Travel Agency ehf. (ID No. 420724-0470)

The licences of these companies have been revoked effective 20 July 2026 because they no longer meet the requirements of the Act on Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements No. 95/2018 and the Regulation on the Travel Guarantee Fund No. 812/2021, as amended.

As a result, the companies are no longer authorised to organize, offer, or sell package travel or to facilitate the sale of linked travel arrangements in the course of business.

The Travel Guarantee Fund reimburses travellers for payments made in respect of package travel or linked travel arrangements that are not provided in accordance with the contract. Where passenger transport forms part of a package travel arrangement, the Fund also covers the traveller's repatriation in the event of the organiser's insolvency or bankruptcy, or where the organiser's licence has been revoked by the Icelandic Tourist Board pursuant to Article 27 of Act No. 95/2018.

The Fund's payment obligation applies regardless of whether a final package travel contract has been concluded, provided that payment can be adequately documented.

Deadline for Submitting Claims: 21 September 2026

The deadline for submitting claims to the Travel Guarantee Fund is 21 September 2026. Claims must be received within the prescribed claim submission period. Claims submitted after this deadline will not be considered.

Claims must be submitted through the online portal at vefgátt á island.is.

Claims must be accompanied by sufficient supporting documentation, such as a description of the trip, payment receipts, or proof of bank transfer.
