This popular urban run starts at the Seltjarnarnes swimming pool (Neslaug) and crosses the westernmost part of the Greater Reykjavík area. The route follows a continuous network of paved walking and cycling paths, largely along the shore, with wide views over Faxaflói bay, Snæfellsjökull in clear weather and out to Grótta. It runs into the Vesturbær district of Reykjavík and out onto Grandi and Örfirisey, one of the old harbour's working areas that in recent years has become a lively area with restaurants and recreation. The route is about 11 km with negligible elevation gain, around 55 metres in total, and is well suited to longer steady-paced training runs. Along the way, on Grandagarður, stands the artwork Þúfa by Ólöf Nordal, a man-made grass-grown mound that is enjoyable to climb for good views over the city and harbour. The paths are in part shared by pedestrians and cyclists, so take care and yield to cycle traffic. As the route is open and runs along the sea it can be windy, but the views are correspondingly rewarding. There is ample parking at Neslaug and good swimming facilities at the start.
