Hlíðahringur in Heiðmörk Hiking trail

Hlíðahringur runs from Maríuhellar to Vífilsstaðavatn Lake, passing Grunnuvötn ponds, continuing along the Hjallar ridge, and then through the slopes of Vífilsstaðahlíð.

Hlíðahringur is a 10 km circular hiking trail through the diverse landscapes of Heiðmörk. The route runs from Maríuhellar to Lake Vífilsstaðavatn, passing the Grunnuvötn ponds, continuing along the Hjallar ridge, and through the slopes of Vífilsstaðahlíð. In recent years, the trail has been significantly improved and now follows well-maintained walking paths for most of its length. Along the way, visitors can enjoy diverse natural surroundings and beautiful views of the surrounding area.
