A varied running route on Grímannsfell, the highest mountain in Mosfellsbær (482 m y.s.). The run starts at the parking area by Bringur and first heads for Helgufoss waterfall along marked paths. From there it runs up along the Köldukvísl stream, crossing several small streams before the steepest section at the top. The route is fairly runnable but takes some effort on the steepest part. The highest part of the mountain is called Stórhóll, with magnificent views over Hellisheiði, Mosfellsheiði, the slopes of Esja and the greater Reykjavík area. The route is a loop of almost 6 km and the surface is mixed — soil, gravel, grass and wet ground in places. It can be wet and boggy up near Grímannsfell except in dry spells. The return runs back down and care is needed on steep and loose sections.
