The trail follows the shores of Elliðavatn Lake through diverse vegetation, offering scenic views across the water. The lake is home to abundant birdlife, making it a great spot for birdwatching. Along the route, there is a recently developed lakeside rest area with a viewing deck and benches. At Þingnes, visitors can explore the remains of 18 archaeological structures dating back to the earliest centuries of Iceland's settlement. The trail is approximately 2 km each way.
