Drápuhlíðarfjall gönguleið Hiking trail

Drápuhliðarfjall mountain in Snæfellsnes is a 527 meter colorful and peculiar mountain, which you can see when driving along highway no. 54 between Álftafjörður and Stykkishólmur. The mountain stands out from its surroundings in terms of color and is considered rich in materials and natural stones. There is a lot of sulfur schist and various peculiar stones, jasper and glass slopes. It was believed that gold could be found in the mountain and it was looked for, but the amount was considered too small, it is called Gullberg in one place. In the vicinity of Drápuhliðarfjall there are place names such as Ísafell and Pekronsdalur which are believed to point to an Irish settlement.
