18.4% decrease in October

Departures of foreign passengers from Iceland via Keflavik airport were about 163 thousand in October, according to figures from the Icelandic Tourist Board, or about 36 thousand less than in October 2018. The decrease between years is 18.4%.

There has been a decrease in all months so far this year. In January the number of departures decreased by 5.8%, by 6.9% in February, by 1.7% in March, by 18.5% in April, by 23.6% in May, by 16.7% in June, by 17% in July, by 13.5% in August and by 20.7% in September.

If we look at induvidual markets the United States had the largest marked share in October, or 21.7%. The number of passengers frum US decreased by 42% from previous year. UK was the second largest marked in October with 12.6% of all passengers.

Since the beginning of the year, 1.7 million foreign passengers have departed from Iceland via Keflavík Airport, which is a decrease of 14.7% compared to the same period last year.
