Overnight Stays in Hotels in Iceland Increases by 14 Percent

Nights spent in hotel rooms in Iceland during the first nine months of the year increased by 14 percent this year. The total number of guest nights totaled 1,644,808 for the period, according to the latest data from Statistics Iceland.

In September 2013, overnight stays in hotels totaled 166,900 compared to 158,700 last year, a five percent increase. Foreign tourists accounted for eight out of 10 guests.

The data consists of the total number of overnight stays in hotels which operate year-round, meaning that guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in the study.
