42,600 departures of foreign passengers in June

Departures of foreign passengers from Iceland via Keflavík Airport were 42,500 in June, according to figures from Tourist Board and Isavia, or seven times more than in June 2020, when there were about six thousand departures.

This is the first month since September 2020 that foreign passengers have exceeded ten thousand in one month.

The picture to the right shows the figures for June for the last 5 years.

Since the beginning of the year, almost 75 thousand foreign passengers have departed from Iceland via Keflavík Airport, which is a 78% decrease compared to the same period last year, when the departure of foreign passengers was almost 342 thousand.

If the division between nationalities in June is looked at, it can be seen that the vast majority of passengers were Americans or about half of those who passed through the airport. This is followed by the departures of Poles (8.6% of the total) and Germans (7.5% of the total).
