110,000 departures of foreign passengers in July

Departures of foreign passengers from Iceland via Keflavík Airport were 110,000 in July, according to figures from the Tourist Board and Isavia, or twice as many as in July 2020. There have not been as many departures from the country since February 2020.  

About 184 thousand foreign passengers have departed from Iceland in the period January to July, which is around 52% less than last year.

The vast majority of passengers were Americans or almost half of those who passed through the airport (46.6%). Thereafter came departures of Polish passengers (10.2%), German (7.9%), British (5.2%) and French (3.6%).

Departures of Icelanders

The number of departures of Icelanders in July was about 31 thousand, compared to roughly 13 thousand in the same month last year. The departures of Icelanders have not been this many since February 2020. The number of departures of Icelanders since the beginning of the year is about 63,500 or 41.3% less than in the same period last year.
