Record Number of Tourists in November

In November 61,000 tourists visited Iceland, 31 percent more tourists than in the same month last year and five times more tourists than 12 years ago, which is when the Icelandic Tourist Board first started counting visitors to Iceland arriving at Keflavík International Airport.

One third of all tourists in November came from the U.K. and 79 percent from the top ten nations visiting Iceland. The U.S. came second with 16 percent and Norway placed third with 5.4 percent. Germany came forth with 4,8 percent, while 4.7 percent of visitors came from Denmark, 4.3 percent from Canada, 3.8 percent from Sweden, 3.8 percent from France, 1.9 percent from The Netherlands and 1.7 percent of visitors came from Japan.
